I have been investing on and off since the year 2000. A few years ago I took the decision to transfer my company pension into a Self-invested personal pension (SIPP). This allowed me more control of the shares and funds that I own, and ultimately gave me the ability to take early retirement (although I still do some database development work for a few personal clients).

I've made plenty of mistakes over the years, including some total disasters such as Yorkshire Foods and Enron, both of which ended up worthless. But I've also had many successes, the best being Apple (AAPL) which I bought a few of back in 2000. Wish I'd bought more every year!

Some of the investment tools and resources I use include stockopedia.com, shareprophets.com and Investors Chronicle (printed and online).

On Youtube, I watch several financial channels including Peter Schiff and Dave Ramsey.

Investing does tend to be a solitary activity, so it's great to be in a group of like minded individuals, and to discuss investment strategies and ideas. There's also a social aspect to the club, which is great.

So, if you have any interest in ISAs, SIPPs, investing, pensions, etc, I'd strongly recommend you come along to a meeting. You'll be made very welcome.
